24th June 1863

My Dear Sir,

Enclosed I send you Copies of some assurances of support obtained with the view of satisfying Mr J Baring as to the business prospects of the Northfleet Ship-building Company. The Originals you can have at any time. Beyond these letters I may mention that both the Chairman of the "Peninsular and Oriental" and "Union" Steam Navigation Companies have verbally informed Mr Pitcher that having read the Prospectus, no obstacle will exist to support being given as soon as the company is completely formed and economical.

Recently I have abandoned in favour of the Millwall Ship Building Company the rights I had organised for building 25 steamers of 600 tons each for carrying coals under the British flag to Paris. Had the Northfleet Company...
