Financial Capability in the PSHE KS2 Curriculum

The Personal, Social and Health Education(PSHE) curriculum for Key Stage 2 makes specific reference to the issue of financial capabilty within the programme of study. The area of study focusing on economic well-being and financial capability states that:

  • Pupils should be taught to ... look after their money and realise that future wants and needs may be met through saving.
  • Pupils should be taught that resources can be allocated in different ways and that these economic choices affect individuals, communities and the sustainability of the environment
  • Pupils should be taught to make real choices and decisions [how to spend money, including pocket money and contributions to charities]
